I have previously been trained by university librarians in the appropriate use of search engines for researching articles and sources for research papers and I thought that this site offered a good on-line resource to that end.

The site:
Finding Information on the InternetThis site is a good place for new users to begin learning about search engines. It covers the required terminology, the basics of searching, search strategies, and recommends specific search tools.http://www.lib.berkeley.edu/TeachingLib/Guides/Internet/FindInfo.html

Finding information on the internet. My fave part of ICQ is being able to have a status facility so you know where people are or are not, saves sitting about waiting for responses.

I used to use ICQ quite a bit until I started working in offices that either restricted access to ICQ or used other instant chat, like Skype or MSN or Talisma.

Module 2 Tasks: Newsgroups

Stay tuned - must be at my Outlook to d/l and am away and can't use up some poor persons d/l allowance.I'll get back to this shortly...

I'm back: 23.5.07

Here is the attached post that I entered at http://forums.gumtree.com

Author
Message
jaclynpJoined: 23 May 2007Posts: 1
Posted: Wed May 23, 2007 3:45 am Post subject: Free furniture and goods on new website for recycling

Hi I have recently registered on this website and it has been really a great help and furnishing the 'Uni' house my son is sharing with other students. Check out http://www.e-cycled.com/ Just because something isn't worth selling doesn't mean it's worthless. Don't throw it away, put it on e-Cycled! e-Cycled is a safe, easy and FREE way to get in touch with people in your area who are looking for things you don't need any more, and that you want to give away for free. It takes just a few easy steps to register and then create a listing. Visitors to the site who are interested in the items you have listed can then use the links to email you to arrange collection or ask a question. You can list all sorts of things on e-Cycled: furniture, electrical goods, books and CDs, clothing, whatever you like! I though learning more about the Internet would be useful and this unit appeared not to impinge in my already overly full schedule.....overly full!!.. Crammed to the rafters is a better description!!..I was talking to a work colleague the other day and he asked what was I doing at Uni? and it struck me..Which one?... I am enrolled in 3 universities and doing a full time work load between, actually probably a bit more than full time - but one of those should be over and done by August, this year...Phew and it's been a long time coming, I enrolled in that particular institution in 1999 ( I think!)
